A fabulous pair of antique Arts and Crafts drop earrings from the early-1900s adorned with a green round-cut peridot at the top (approx. 2ct), and a violet pear-cut amethyst dangling below (approx. 4ct). Both stones are encircled by vine leaves, fashioned in silver with gold-gilt butterfly studs at the top.
The Arts and Crafts movement advocated a revival of traditional handicrafts in the early 20th Century and used romantic, folk decoration with an influx of colour and sparkle to counteract the more mechanised industrialisation of modern design.
They’re an eye-catching pair, both in excellent condition and the contrasting gems complement each other beautifully.
